ABOUT

Art Meets Sound. It’s the idea behind the work of award-winning touring photographer Sarah Northrop, better known by her social media moniker, SARTAKESPICS. Sarah’s profession is the ultimate hybrid of her two greatest passions since childhood: music & photography. A hobby that once started at local college D.I.Y. shows in dimly-lit basements now flourishes as a full-blown career under the lights of iconic music venues & world-class music festivals such as Coachella, EDC Las Vegas, Red Rocks, The Gorge and more.

Well-rounded in the different genres of photography, Sarah’s specialty in music is where her talent truly explodes. Her work seamlessly meshes together every aspect of the concert-goer experience — From aiming her camera at vibrant visuals & atmospheric details, to capturing the emotions & energy flowing between performer & crowd — she does it all and never misses a beat.

With a handful of nationwide tours under her belt, Sarah’s experiences on the road as a woman in her field have inspired her to dedicate free time & professional outlook to carving out a more accessible & inclusive music media sphere. Through leading photography mentorships of women, LGBTQIA+, and BIPOC individuals via LP Giobbi’s 501(c)(3) educational nonprofit, FEMME HOUSE, along with co-running global EDM media community platform No Travel Agency, Sarah hopes to use her skillset to empower other women & help them overcome the music industry’s enigmatic barriers to entry that she once faced.

Utilizing photography as a gateway to other career paths, Sarah carved & solidified her foothold in the music industry by undertaking roles as the social media manager for both FEMME HOUSE and Defected Records label imprint, Yes Yes Yes. Her knack for visual aesthetics & unrivaled passion for her work leaves a vibrant & tailored mark on any project she touches — photographic or otherwise. Whether behind the lens or not, it’s evident that no matter what Sarah sets out to do, she always finds a way to fully immerse the viewer in a world where Art Meets Sound.

Equipped with more than a decade of experience, Sarah has explored the vast breadth of subjects that photography has to offer through holding numerous photo-centric job titles before forming her own entity, SARTAKESPICS.

Sarah has a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Communication from the University of Oregon. There, she held several leader and management positions in multimedia, many of which have earned her awards for her work from some of the nation’s most esteemed press associations.
