ABOUT

Art Meets Sound is the idea behind the work of award-winning touring photographer Sarah Northrop, better known by her social media moniker, SARTAKESPICS. Sarah’s profession is the ultimate hybrid of her two greatest passions since childhood: music & photography. A hobby that once started at college D.I.Y. shows in dimly-lit basements now flourishes as a full-blown career under the lights of iconic music venues & world-class music festivals among the likes of Coachella, EDC, Red Rocks, The Gorge Amphitheater and more.

Well-rounded in the different genres of photography, Sarah’s specialty in music is where her talent explodes. Her work seamlessly captures every aspect of the concert-goer experience — from the vibrant visuals and atmospheric details that define a space, to the emotion and energy exchanged between performer and crowd. With an instinctive eye for the moments that matter, she does it all and never misses a beat.

With a handful of nationwide tours under her belt, Sarah’s experiences on the road as a woman in her field have inspired her to dedicate free time & professional outlook to carving out a more inclusive music media sphere. In 2024, Sarah led photography classes for women, LGBTQIA+, and BIPOC individuals via LP Giobbi’s 501(c)(3) educational nonprofit, FEMME HOUSE, and helped run the online community No Travel Agency, which reaches a global audience of music industry creatives of all skill levels. Sarah hopes to continue using her skillset to empower other women in music, helping them navigate industry challenges while creating more inclusive spaces and opportunities for the next generation of creatives.

Utilizing photography as a gateway into the broader music industry, Sarah expanded her role beyond the lens into content-driven positions, including social media management for a Defected Records label imprint. Since 2025, she now serves as Head of Media and Assistant Director of Marketing for a new Portland-based EDM venue REΛLM, where she has helped establish the 1,200-cap venue as one of electronic music’s most exciting emerging destinations for both fans and touring artists alike. Whether behind the lens or not, it’s evident that no matter what Sarah sets out to do, she always finds a way to fully immerse the viewer in a world where Art Meets Sound.

Equipped with more than a decade of experience, Sarah has explored the vast breadth of subjects that photography has to offer through holding numerous photo-centric job titles before forming her own entity, SARTAKESPICS.

Sarah has a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Communication from the University of Oregon. There, she held several leader and management positions in multimedia, many of which have earned her awards for her work from some of the nation’s most esteemed press associations. Her work has been featured in publications such as Billboard, Forbes, USA Today, CNN, DJ Mag, Revolver, Alternative Press and many more.
