ABOUT

Art Meets Sound. It’s the idea behind the work of award-winning Oregon-based photographer Sarah Northrop, better known by her social media moniker, SARTAKESPICS. Sarah’s profession is the ultimate hybrid of her two greatest passions: music & photography. So, it’s no surprise that with roots growing up around the L.A. music industry — combined with years of schooling surrounding the visual arts & a natural creative eye — Sarah has become one of the Pacific Northwest's top music media creatives.

Well-rounded in photography, it is within Sarah’s specialty of music where her talent truly explodes. A hobby that once started at local D.I.Y. shows in dim basements now flourishes as a full-blown touring career under the lights of arenas & the main stages at world-class music festivals such as Coachella, EDC Las Vegas, and more.

Earning her the title of “Best Photographer” by Eugene Weekly, Sarah’s music-oriented work seamlessly meshes together every aspect of the concert-goer experience. From aiming her camera at vibrant visuals & atmospheric details, to capturing the emotions & energy flowing between performer and crowd — she does it all and never misses a beat.

Having found her groove within the industry, Sarah now dedicates her free time & professional outlook to carving out a more accessible & inclusive music media sphere. Through leading photography mentorships of women, LGBTQIA+, and BIPOC individuals via LP Giobbi’s 501(c)(3) nonprofit, FEMME HOUSE, along with co-running global EDM media community/educational platform No Travel Agency, Sarah hopes to use her skillset to empower other women & help overcome the music industry’s barriers to entry that she once faced.

Equipped with more than a decade of experience, Sarah has explored the vast breadth of subjects that photography has to offer through holding numerous photo-centric job titles before forming her own entity, SARTAKESPICS. Whether it’s sports, portraits, events, or more, Sarah’s knack for visual aesthetics allows her to capture any subject with the essence of live music. No matter what her camera is pointed at, she always finds a way to fully immerse the viewer in a world where Art Meets Sound.

Sarah has a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Communication with a focus on visual communication from the University of Oregon. There, she held several leader and management positions in multimedia, many of which have earned her awards for her work from some of the nation’s most esteemed press associations. Her work has been featured in Forbes, USA Today, CNN, DJ Mag, Revolver, Exron, Alternative Press, EDM Identity, Dancing Astronaut, and more.
